Some churches believe that the New Testament forbids divorce & remarriage in any form. Others feel that the passages in question are to be applied as guidelines tempered with love, mercy, understanding & judicial allowances. There are many sincere Christians on both sides of the fence, so the editors felt that the task of doctrinally defining this point was best left to the reader’s personal faith & conviction.–“Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”–Romans 14:5b)
